Questions before you go

What is Gillby?

Gillby brings coastal forecasts, tides, beach cams and planning tools together for beach days, surf sessions, kite sessions and boat trips. Start with a place and activity, then compare the available conditions and source times.

Where can I check South Florida water conditions?

Open Gillby’s water map to explore places around Palm Beach County, Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami and the Florida Keys. Data availability varies by location and source.

What can I compare before choosing a day on the water?

Compare wind speed, gusts and direction; wave height, period and direction; tide predictions; available advisories; and camera timestamps. Gillby’s activity views help organize the information around the outing you have in mind.

Where does Gillby’s coastal information come from?

Gillby uses sources including NOAA and the National Weather Service, NDBC buoy observations, NOAA CO-OPS tides and GOES lightning data. Source details and freshness belong beside the reading: an observation, a prediction and an AI explanation are different kinds of information.

Are the readings measured at every beach or inlet?

No. A tide station, offshore buoy or forecast zone can represent nearby water rather than a measurement at the selected spot. Check station and source information before interpreting a reading as local. Coverage and update times vary.

Can I ask an AI assistant about the water?

Gillby offers chat and read-only coastal tools for compatible MCP clients. Ask about a place, activity and time, then inspect the returned sources and timestamps. Client support and available data affect the answer.

Do forecasts or activity scores guarantee conditions?

No. Forecasts and activity scores support planning and can miss local changes. Review current official advisories and local restrictions. Gillby does not replace marine charts, navigation equipment, lifeguard guidance or emergency services.
