THE SHORT ANSWER

Our South Florida launch shortlist is Silver Palm Park for Lake Boca, Pioneer Park for Deerfield, Alsdorf Park for Pompano, Phil Foster Park for the Peanut Island area, Burt Reynolds Park for Jupiter, Black Point for southern Biscayne Bay, and Oleta River State Park for kayaking. Check permits and access before trailering over.

AT A GLANCE

  • Seven picks from Jupiter to Miami, each chosen for a different water day.
  • Six motorboat ramp options plus a dedicated paddling pick.
  • Pioneer Park reopening reported firsthand by Gillby’s founder on October 19, 2026; the city webpage still has an older closure notice.
  • Official sources reviewed October 19, 2026. Fees, eligibility and capacity can change.

How we chose these launches

This is an editorial shortlist organized by useful starting point, rather than a claim that one ramp beats every other ramp in Florida. We checked city, county and state park sources for the facility type, access information and permit requirements. The “best for” labels are our judgment about which trip each location helps you plan.

Start with the destination, then compare the launch. A shorter drive can still mean a longer water route, extra bridge waits or a more exposed return. A canoe launch also does not mean you can back a boat trailer down it.

1. Silver Palm Park, Boca Raton — best for a Lake Boca plan

Silver Palm makes the shortlist when the day revolves around Boca’s Intracoastal water. The city lists the park at 600 E. Palmetto Park Road, with a motorboat ramp, canoe/kayak launch and trailer parking. It is a useful starting point to investigate for a Lake Boca day.

  • Launch type: motorboat ramp and canoe/kayak launch.
  • Permit note: the city requires an annual boat launch and trailer permit. Check eligibility and purchase details before arriving.
  • Planning note: account for bridges and read the Boca Inlet checklist if your route continues offshore.

2. Pioneer Park, Deerfield Beach — best for a Deerfield starting point

Pioneer Park belongs on the local shortlist again: Gillby founder Gabe Keding reported seeing it reopened on October 19, 2026. That is a firsthand local update. The city webpage still displays the older construction closure notice and an anticipated end-of-November completion date, so those sources currently disagree.

  • Launch type: motorboat ramp; the city identifies access to the Hillsboro Canal.
  • Status note: reopening reported locally on October 19; current permit sales, hours and the extent of reopened facilities have not been confirmed with the operator.
  • Planning note: confirm parking and permit instructions with the city, especially while its construction notice remains online.

3. Alsdorf Park, Pompano Beach — best for a Pompano boat day

Pompano Beach specifically directs boat and jet-ski launching to Alsdorf Park on the NE 14th Street Causeway at the Intracoastal Waterway. That makes it the city-listed place to investigate for a trailered boat or PWC, rather than assuming a beach access allows launching.

  • Launch type: boat and jet-ski launching.
  • Access note: confirm current trailer parking, payment and ramp availability with the park operator.
  • Planning note: a ramp on the Intracoastal does not establish conditions at Hillsboro Inlet. Check the inlet and the return window separately.

4. Phil Foster Park, Riviera Beach — best for the Peanut Island area

For a Lake Worth Lagoon itinerary around Peanut Island, Phil Foster is a useful ramp to compare. Palm Beach County lists 24-hour ramp access and parking, with a 24-hour maximum for trailer and tow-vehicle parking. County saltwater ramps require an annual or daily parking permit.

  • Launch type: motorboat ramp; the county also identifies a dedicated non-motorized launch area.
  • Best match: a Peanut Island-area itinerary where you have checked the crossing and boat traffic.
  • Planning note: keep the park’s swimming and snorkeling areas separate from your boat route.

5. Burt Reynolds Park, Jupiter — best for a Jupiter waterway itinerary

Burt Reynolds Park is our Jupiter pick for a plan built around the local waterways. The county lists a saltwater ramp with 24-hour access and parking, a 24-hour maximum for trailer and tow-vehicle parking, and annual or daily parking permit requirements.

  • Launch type: motorboat ramp; the county also lists canoe/kayak access.
  • Best match: comparing a Jupiter launch with your planned sandbar or river destination.
  • Planning note: check your actual route, bridge clearance and local current. Ramp access is not an inlet go-ahead.

6. Black Point Park and Marina, Miami-Dade — best for southern Biscayne Bay

Black Point is the geographic pick when your day starts in southern Miami-Dade and your destination is southern Biscayne Bay. The county lists a marina and boat ramp with 24-hour access. Review its current marina notices and launch charges when planning the trip.

  • Launch type: motorboat ramp within a marina park.
  • Best match: choosing a southern launch instead of adding a long transit from farther north.
  • Planning note: work from current charts and marked channels; open-looking bay water does not establish depth for your draft.

7. Oleta River State Park, North Miami Beach — best for a paddle day

Oleta is the paddling pick on this list. Florida State Parks identifies canoe/kayak launching and paddling opportunities at the park. Choose it for a day built around a kayak or paddleboard, rather than treating every launch recommendation as a motorboat ramp.

  • Launch type: canoe/kayak launch; confirm arrangements for your own craft or a rental.
  • Access note: check park alerts, admission, operating hours and concession details.
  • Planning note: choose a route you can paddle back against the forecast wind. Nearby open water can be a different trip from a sheltered creek.

Before you hitch the trailer or load the kayak

  • Confirm the launch is accepting your craft and that your permit covers the vehicle and trailer.
  • Choose a backup launch before driving over; opening hours do not guarantee space.
  • Check wind, tide, bridges and the return-hour forecast.
  • Prepare away from the active ramp and keep the launch lane moving.

Pair the launch with one of our South Florida sandbar picks, then check both ends of the trip on the Gillby map.
