OPEN SOURCE · ONEWAVE AI SKILLS LIBRARY

A little local knowledge.
For your AI.

The Gillby Water skill teaches your assistant how to compare Florida places, activities and departure windows using Gillby’s sourced marine data—and how to keep the limits of that data in the answer.

Free · MIT licensed · Public data needs no API key · Compatible skill and network support required

Turn a question into an actual comparison.

Start with your place.

Resolve the inlet, beach or launch before asking for conditions. Keep the activity and your time window in view.

Read the water together.

Compare wind, waves, tides and advisories. Keep sources, timestamps and unavailable information attached.

Bring your boat when you choose.

Use confirmed vessel measurements, or authorize your saved boat. Personal changes stay within your request.

The skill is a set of instructions for your assistant. Connect Gillby’s MCP server separately, or use the documented public HTTP API in a client that supports network requests. Installing the skill does not install a connection or unlock account access.

ONE FILE. TWO PARTS TO SETUP.

Add the skill. Connect the data.

Install the instructions.

Use your client’s skill importer with the GitHub skill folder, or install the single SKILL.md file in your local skills directory. These commands install only Gillby Water.

Claude Code

mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/gillby-water
curl --fail --location 'https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OneWave-AI/claude-skills/main/gillby-water/SKILL.md' \
  --output ~/.claude/skills/gillby-water/SKILL.md

Codex

mkdir -p ~/.codex/skills/gillby-water
curl --fail --location 'https://raw.githubusercontent.com/OneWave-AI/claude-skills/main/gillby-water/SKILL.md' \
  --output ~/.codex/skills/gillby-water/SKILL.md

Open a new session or reload skills as your client requires. In Codex, you can explicitly ask to use $gillby-water; other clients use their own invocation UI.

Give it a source of current data.

Add Gillby as a remote MCP server in a compatible client:

https://www.gillby.com/mcp

Transport: Streamable HTTP. Public marine tools require no API key or sign-in. Personal boats, places and trips use Gillby OAuth with the permissions you choose.

Follow the connection guide

For an HTTP-based workflow, use the developer guide and current schemas. The skill handles a missing connection explicitly instead of inventing readings.

Available now as an open-source skill.

Custom MCP connections work on compatible accounts. Marketplace plugin listings remain coming soon and subject to each platform’s approval.

Start with the day you have in mind.

“Use Gillby Water to compare Boca Inlet and Hillsboro Inlet for a boat run tomorrow morning. Include the return hours, advisories and missing data.”
“Help me find a paddle launch near Deerfield Beach for Saturday. Ask what you need to compare the wind and current for my actual time window.”
“With my authorized saved boat, compare this proposed route at two departure times. Show depth and bridge assumptions before suggesting a plan.”

Expect a practical comparison with decisive readings, source times, advisories and gaps. A skill cannot guarantee safe passage, legal launch access, current camera imagery or an available weather window.

Open instructions. Current references.

The skill links to maintained documentation instead of copying a tool catalog that can drift.
