How much rain
actually fell?
Explore reported daily precipitation at selected Florida airport stations. See daily amounts, monthly summaries and the gaps behind a total. These are station observations, separate from archived weather-model estimates.
Free public access. Up to 366 completed dates per query, including historical years where NOAA has records. Six selected stations; coverage varies.
A rainfall total is only as good as its coverage.
Choose completed dates, at most 366 days. Archive access is separate from Gillby’s 72-hour public model-history window.
Start with last month, or choose a full month or year from the archive. Your station and dates stay explicit.
Available to your app and AI assistant, too.
Use get_rainfall_history through MCP or the public HTTP endpoint. Use get_rain for future rain; archived model values from get_history remain labeled estimates.
GET /api/v1/tools/get_rainfall_history?station=USW00012844&start=2026-09-01&end=2026-09-30
Example MCP request: “Use get_rainfall_history for station USW00012844, from 2026-09-01 through 2026-09-30. Report measured precipitation, station name, coverage, trace days and missing or excluded records. Do not call a partial sum a full-period total.”
Observed, forecast and estimated are different.
This explorer uses NOAA NCEI’s GHCN-Daily PRCP product: reported daily precipitation, including liquid-equivalent frozen precipitation. Dates follow the station reporting day and may not represent a midnight-to-midnight period. Original observation-time and quality flags are retained.
A missing date is unknown. Provider quality flags, presumed-zero reports and incomplete or ambiguous measurement periods are excluded from totals. Trace means precipitation below the reported precision, not a dry day. A complete total adds accepted reported values; it retains the trace-day count.
A station describes its location, not every beach, inlet or neighborhood nearby. Recent records may arrive late or be revised. Monthly summaries cover only dates within your selected range; select a full calendar month or year before reporting that calendar total.
